Amazing quality of fresh food, great atmosphere, very attentive waiter who took his time to explain the menu and did not make us feel rushed at all. Compliments to the chef we had onion soup, aubergine fritters, mixed grilled fish and grilled vegetables, and parmigiana di melanzane.

Dining at Osteria Antico proved to be a delightful experience, even on an exceptionally busy evening in Tropea. The staff demonstrated commendable attentiveness, swiftly reorganizing tables to accommodate our party of four. The local red wine was a highlight of the evening, its character enhanced by a thoughtful and skillful presentation: the waiter gently rotated each glass to aerate the wine, a refined technique that elevated both its aroma and flavor—a gesture as elegant as it was memorable. As for the cuisine, while most dishes were pleasing, certain plates distinguished themselves with exceptional quality. In particular, the tuna with pistachio crust stood out as a true triumph—flavorful, balanced, and masterfully prepared. Overall, Osteria Antico offers both warmth and craft, making it a destination worth visiting for those seeking an elevated yet welcoming dining experience in Tropea.

We met the loveliest host standing outside the front of this Osteria and decided to return for dinner . What an excellent decision that was . This is a welcoming Osteria and is run by gentle & kind people . We had the onion fritters, potato cakes with Nduja hearts , sword fish & tuna with pistachio crust . All cooked to perfection and accompanied by a dangerously, palatable local rose .The Osteria is located in an atmospheric ,historic building.. It is reasonably priced and a hidden gem . Highly recommended for a memorable experience.

Amazing restaurant! We've ate onion soup and parmigiana for first course, both dishes were delicious. For main course we chose tuna steak, one with pistachio crust and one with onion. Both were very good but pistachio one was better :) really nice place with good waiters. Some waiting time for the food.

Very delicious and romantic! Highly recommended their onion soup! Prices are good. Portions are big. Local vino is good too! Quite charming place to spend an evening with taste of local food. Very beautiful paintings on the walls. Have to be more warm lights on the tables.

We were in Tropea for five evenings so tried different restaurants for the first four and decided that we would return to our favourite on the fifth…we ate here on the first night and came for our last evening because we loved it so much. Both times we had the marinated anchovies for starter, and both times my husband had the grilled swordfish and grilled vegetables. The first night I had the seafood carbonara (packed with seafood) and the last night I had the braised octopus on potato. The potato was the most delicious I’ve eaten, the octopus was perfectly cooked and so tasty. The marinated anchovies (so good we had them twice) were outstanding. The prices are the same as every other restaurant in Tropea but the food is more high end. Excellent value. The service was fantastic, warm and friendly. The first night we walked in without a reservation but we made a reservation for the last evening as it was a Saturday. I’d say it depends what time you arrive!

Took my family of 4 here as we all wanted to visit the historic town and eat some quality sea food. Viola and Anthony were amazing hosts, the sword fish steaks and tuna pistachio steak were to die for. So much so I split them with my other half. If you get chance to visit this wonderful restaurant in the heart of Tropea, treat yourself, you wont be disappointed.
